Abstract
The local distribution, flight periods, habitat preferences, larval food plants, adult feeding plants (nectar sources), and adult behavior of 60 species of butterflies are recorded for the Big Spring Ranch area (elevation 8500 to 9220 ft), four miles southwest of Florissant, Teller Co., Colorado. The influence of plant associations as both barriers and corridors is emphasized as controlling the distribution of certain species. Other factors affecting the distribution of butterflies, such as larval and adult food-plant distribution and water sources are discussed.
