Abstract

1. 1. The physiology of the Djungarian hamster is described with special regard to breeding and development. 2. 2. The metabolic abnormalities are studied with special regard to carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. 3. 3. The data reveal this animal to exhibit a genetically determined inappropriate hyperglycaemia and to differ from all other species so far known by an early onset of urinary ketone body excretion.
