Abstract

A distinction must be drawn between the Various studies associated with the acts of writing, the preparation of documents by other means, and the examinations involved in determining the authorship of a given writing or the genuineness of a particular document. It is the object of this paper to define certain terms and to give a brief but factual history of the main disciplines involved, thereby making the distinction clear. The quantity of literature available on the subject of Graphology is enormous, whilst that on Questioned Document Examination is somewhat less.
