Abstract

Two-dimensional models for the development of the dissolution forms of single crystal spheres are presented. It is assumed that the dissolution form faces consist of microscopical or submicroscopical terraces of equilibrium form faces or that the velocity of dissolution is determined by the detachment of lattice elements from the half-crystal position. The dissolution form is bounded by curved surface areas and under special conditions also plane surface areas may appear. The faces of the dissolution form are derived from the equilibrium form by “cutting off” the corners of the latter.
