Abstract

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 is a complex piece of legislation. The interpretation of it is still emerging as the courts attempt to balance the interests of disabled people, able-bodied workers and employers with the wider public interest. This paper considers how the act has affected the position of disabled people and some areas where further reform is needed.
