The diagnosis and treatment for Inverted papilloma of the urinary bladder (report of 40 cases)

Abstract

Objectives To explore the pathologic characters of inverted papilloma of the bladder (IPB)and its clinical diagnosis and treatment.Methods The data of 40 cases with IPB in our hospital was analyzed,including the pathologic characters and the methods of diagnosis and treatment of IPB,and to review the literatures of IPB.Results All 40 patients were received transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBt) and treated with chemotherapy by pouring drug into bladder for 6 to 36 mons.They were not suffered from IPB recurrence or cancer during the following-up period(6 ～ 126 mons,average 68 mons).Conclusions IPB is a kind of benign tumor.The diagnosis should be confirmed by cystoscopy and biopsy.Ultrasonography is the screening examination of IPB.TURBt is the standard treatment of IPB.Repeating cystoscopy examination is recommended after operation.
