Abstract

This study aimed to determine: (1) the development process of the Ular tangga nusantara (Larganusa) or Nusantara ladder snake learning media; (2) the appropriateness of the media of Larganusa; (3) the response of teachers and students to Larganusa; (4) the increase in student achievement as a result of using these media; and (5) the effectiveness of using the Larganusa. This was research and development research which used the Borg and Gall model. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests and analyzed descriptively. The results were as follows: (1) the Larganusa was developed from information gathering and field testing; (2) the media developed were declared fit for use with very good criteria, indicated by the assessment of material experts with a score of 88% and media expert assessment with a score of 90%; (3) the response of students and teachers was very good, indicated by a teacher score of 96% and a student score of 88%; (4) student learning achievement increased – the average pretest value was 59.8 and the average posttest value after using the media was 85.0; and (5) the media of Larganusa was effectively used in learning, as shown by the results of the paired sample t-test which indicated a significant effect.
