Abstract

Flexible ensemble is the arrangement that allows the selection of instruments for the instrumentation in order to overcome the problem of a small wind orchestra that cannot be performed with a combination of instruments according to the score for a standard big wind orchestra, or in the case of a wind orchestra where the exact number of musicians or types of instruments cannot be determined. Flexible ensemble is therefore another innovation that helps the teaching and performing management of a wind orchestra to be smooth and efficient, both in managing musicians for rehearsals and music performances. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader's understanding of flexible ensemble and to encourage their use and appreciation of its significance in order to produce musical literary compositions in the form of flexible bands with numerous variations in the future.
