Abstract
In the global competitive business market, the adoption of Information Systems (IS) is one of the key factors affecting the behavior of conducting business in small-sized enterprises (SSEs). If a well-planned IS is developed, it definitely enables a corporation to share information resources effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this paper is to present a literature review on the development of IS and how IS is used strategically in SSEs. It also examines the evolution of IS architecture, and the current trend of IS in SSEs. At the end, we adopt an IS model to discuss how it is used strategically to support strategic decision-makers, and help SSEs differentiate themselves from competitors in the competitive market.
