Abstract
From 1941 to 1947, the public health service in Ethiopia was administered by the Department of Public Health in the Ministry of the Interior. The department was primarily responsible for administering the few hospitals and clinics which existed at that time.1 Their activities ... were nothing more than a struggle to meet the health demands of the postwar period and to keep the then existing curative service going.2
