Abstract

The relevance of the study of event approach is justified by its potential for training personalization, personal and professional development of students. The aim is to analyze the practice of event education at Volgograd State Medical University and Volgograd State Technical University. The classification of educational events is presented and levels of event education are highlighted. The aims, content and procedural aspects of approach are studied and characterized with an emphasis on personal and professional development of students. The experience of implementing event approach helped to distinguish and characterize the stages of educational events and effectively use the technologies for specialists’ training. The potential of educational, developmental and educational events for improvement of quasi-professional skills was substantiated. To get the instructors ready for implementation of these technologies, the event-based approach was introduced in educational process at levels of postgraduate education and continuing pedagogical training of university staff. The cooperation of students and instructors in the process of “living” in an educational event, as well as reflection, are considered as the means and goals of event education. The analysis of the trainees’ satisfaction showed that the event approach met the educational needs of attendees (students, graduate students and teachers). It also made the educational process personally and professionally significant. The findings can be used in the development of university curricula, as it personalizes the educational process due to event approach.
