Abstract

When processing the experimental data it is essential to determine the factors of straight line equation Y = AX+B which describes (in the best way) the given set of n measurement results. A certain defect of the used of least squares method is the necessity of choosing one from the quantity as a dependent variable with measurement error, while the other one is considered accurate. Because both variables are the results of measurements, thus there is no obstacle in principle to recognize the other variable as a dependent one and to determine the constants of the inverse equation $$ X = \frac{1}{A}Y - \frac{B}{A} $$ In the paper the possibilities of conversions of initial equation are presented and the effect of used conversions on the estimated kinetic parameters of copper oxidation in the conditions of linear temperature increase is evaluated.
