Abstract

Objective To investigate the static two - point discrimination of normal hands in Shanghai citizens. Methods 210 normal hands of 105 persons in Shanghai were involved in the study. The distance of two - point discrimination was checked with Weber static two - point discrimination test and dividing region of normal hand skin.Results Among dividing regions of the hands in the 210 normal individuals, the average distance of two - point discrimination was (5.4 ± 2.3) mm, with the minimal distance (4.0 mm) in the finger pulp and the maximal one (10.0 mm) on dorsum of the hand. Conclusions The distance of two - point discrimination of normal hands was larger on the dorsum than in the palm, and larger at the proximal part than at the distal end.
