Abstract

The operation of the polarization has always been the focus and hot point in the electromagnetic (EM) area. We propose the method to realize the operator for conversion of orthogonal polarization by metasurface with cascaded layers which concludes receiving antenna, polarization processing layer and transmitting antenna. The design of polarization processing layer located in the middle of the metasurface is core, and it can actualize the orthogonal manipulation by introducing the topological connection and phase inverter. Also, with applying the symmetric textures of receiving and transmitting antennas which are polarized insensitively, the total metasurface achieves the function of orthogonal polarization conversion under arbitrarily polarized states of incident wave. One sample of metasurface is fabricated and measured, and good agreement between simulation and measurement results is observed.
