The air termination, the down conductor and the earth electrode are the external lightning protection apparatuses. They are must be installed at the tall building where risk to strike by the lightning flash because the tall building is struck by the lightning, it can occur the extreme damage such as the fire and the explosion respectively. Therefore, the external lightning protection system must be appropriately designed based on the international standard IEC 62305 for the safety of life and public. As mentioned above, this article presents the designation and simulation of the external lightning protection for a tall building which is assigned according to IEC62305. The case study in this article is a tall building of the faculty of science and technology of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra-Nakhon (RMUTP) Thailand where directly risk to strike by the lightning discharge.
