Abstract

The deposition of particles from an air flow onto a single cylindrical fiber perpendicular to the flow in a uniform electrical field is theoretically investigated. Both the electrostatic deposition and the direct interception are taken into account to calculate the deposition efficiency in potential and viscous flows. The results are compared to the Zebel model in which only the electrostatic deposition is considered. The effects of the electrostatic parameter, interception parameter, and velocity field as well as the dielectric constant of the cylinder on the deposition efficiency are discussed.
