Abstract
This paper estimates the demand for housing attributes of households located in the Greater Zurich area. A revealed-preferences approach is used, in which a structural hedonic model is identified and estimated. This approach explicitly accounts for the heterogeneity of preferences and for unobserved attributes of the housing units. With the help of a GIS, data describing the housing characteristics and the socioeconomic traits of their residents are matched with the attributes of the location. As an application of the results, the paper estimates marginal willingness-to-pay for the main housing characteristics.
