Abstract
The decay scheme of 114Ag has been studied with Ge(Li) γ-ray detectors and a plastic β-ray detector. Of the 11 γ-rays observed in the decay, 9 were incorporated into the 114Cd level structure previously determined by conversion electron measurements made on the products from the 113Cd(n, γ)114Cd. reaction. The end-point energy of the β-decay was determined as 4.90 ± 0.26MeV; no branching was evident in the (β-spectrum. A decay scheme is proposed for which the β-branching has been deduced from the measured γ-ray yield and an extrapolated cross-section value for the 114Cd(n, p)114Ag reaction. The 114Ag half-life was determined as 4.52 ± 0.07sec; a search for a previously reported isomeric state of 114Ag was unsuccessful.
