Abstract

As interest in global surgery increases among surgical trainees, more programs are incorporating global surgery rotations into residency training. The structure of such rotations varies widely and there are multiple barriers to establishing, maintaining, and expanding international global surgery rotations. This study assesses the existing opportunities for global surgery experiences at US general surgery residency programs and explores opportunities for sharing resources and expertise among the Association of Program Directors in Surgery’s membership.
