Abstract

AbstractIn any study of small business or entrepreneurship, the personality of the owner managers, their style and leadership qualities are important These factors are strongly influenced by the cultural, religious, social and political patterns of the environment in which they operate. In this paper, the first reported study of entrepreneurship in Brunei, the three ethnic small business populations; Malays, Chinese and Indians are studied. Their behaviour is explained in the context of the environmental influences. The findings of the research shows that the three groups exhibit different characteristics based on these influences.
