Abstract
We elaborated and studied the physical properties of Nd2−xGdxFe16Co alloys and its nitrides Nd2−xGdxFe16CoNy. By means of X-ray powder diffraction analysis, it is shown for 0 ≤ x ≤ 2 that all our synthesized compounds crystallize in the Th2Zn17 structure. Nitrogen insertion leads to an increase of the unit cell volume. Curie temperature Tc increases with increasing gadolinium content in the alloys. Nitrogen insertion leads to an increase of Tc. The Curie temperature is found to increase from 441 K for x = 0 to 573 K for x = 2 in the alloys and from 773 K for x = 0 to 823 K for x = 2 in the nitrides. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
