Abstract
Using 293 K diffractometer intensity data the structure of RbTeF 5 has been determined by single crystal X-ray technique and refined to a final R W of 0.039. The colorless crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pnma, with a=14.000(4), b=6.2883(3), c=11.466(2) A ̊ , and Z=8. The structure contains ψ-octahedral TeF 5 − anions with approximate point symmetry 4mm. Unusual short interionic distances TeF of 2.974(5) Å are discussed with respect to association features and nonbonded radii according to Glidewell.
