Abstract

A formula for the solubility of gases in nonpolar liquids is obtained on the basis of Kihara's core potential of intermolecular forces, which considers the size and shape of molecules. The formula contains two empirical parameters independent of the solute. The solubilities of Ne, AR, Kr, Xe, N 2, CO 2, C 2H 6, and cyclopropane in cyclohexane are well represented.
