Abstract

The content of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF) in Norwegian samples of forages was predicted by near infrared reflectance analysis (NIR), using a universal calibration equation developed at Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. The predictions were done with a relatively high level of accuracy. Therefore NIR is considered to be a good tool for predicting the content of NDF and ADF in forages.
