Abstract

The content of chlorophyll a and its degradation products has been measured in cores of nine volcanic lakes in the Eifel region. The primary production increased at the beginning of Post Glacial Period but degreased after Atlantic Period. During the last three decades the production of biomass increased again due to anthropogenic eutrophication.
