The Construction of Cultural Engineering in Rural Tourism— Taking Traditional Festivals for Example

Abstract

Rural tourism plays an influential role in the development of rural economy, but how to get a sustainable growth? A view is pointed out in the paper that a rational exploitation and a good use of the traditional festival culture will provide a new and inexhaustible source for the rural tourism. The reasons lie in that folk cultures and traditional festivals have a popularity in people, which offers a easy way for its products to obtain the popular support, that the cycle of traditional festivals can make up the gaps in rural tourism which are much dependent on agriculture and natural resources, and that it is the cultural differences of traditional festivals that produce the variety in the rural tourism development. The article points out it is a cultural engineering and should be constructed in the rural tourism, and it discusses how to use the rich cultural resources and develop new tourism products by the means of exploration, inheritance and innovation. The article also gives some suggestions on the measures and strategies in composing the cultural engineering in rural tourism.
