Abstract

The description is given of a demountable, continuously evacuated experimental X-ray tube with a transmission target, in which modifications in design of anode, filament, and filament hood can be made. The pumping plant, vacuum technique and electrical circuits are described. Operating at 35 kV to 40 kV and 12 mA with a focal skin distance of 5 cms and a circular field of 5 cm diameter, the tube has an output of 200 r. per minute. It is held in an earthed insulator, a photograph of which is given.
