Abstract

This article shows the features of the creation concept of L. P. Karsavin in the historical and philosophical context. In particular, the author correlates Karsavin’s understanding of the origin of the world with creationism, dualism and pantheism. The Russian philosopher developed an original concept that belongs to a particular philosophical tradition presented in some gnostic texts and the writings of Nicholas of Cusa. The dynamic understanding of creation as self-limitation of the Absolute in the sphere of nothingness uniquely solves the universal problem of the metaphysics of unity.
