Abstract

The pin-on-disc tribometer was used to investigate the optimization of worm gear pair tribological properties under wet conditions at various process parameters. The wear and frictional force has been evaluated at different load, speed and time intervals using L9 orthogonal array. The Compound Taguchi and Grey Relational Analysis isapplied to check out a set of experimentwhich gives optimum process parameters like speed, load and timespan at low frictional force and wear.Grey relation analysis was used to determine the best method parameters. It was discovered that a speed of 800 rpm, a load of 75 N and a timespan of 1800 s are the best process parameters for decreasing wear and frictional force. The findings of this study will help to reduce frictional forceand wear, as well as extending the lifespan of worm gear.
