Abstract
The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Saussurea chabyoungsanica, an endemic species to Korea, was determined by Illumina pair-end sequencing in this study. The total genome size was 152,446 bp in length, containing a pair of inverted repeats of 25,185 bp, which were separated by large single copy and small single copy of 83,397 and 18,679, respectively. 112 genes were annotated, including 80 protein coding genes, 28 tRNA genes and 4 rRNA genes. Among these genes, 18 genes contained one or two introns. The overall GC contents of the plastid genome were 37.7 %. A phylogenetic analysis based on 75 protein coding genes indicated that Saussurea chabyoungsanica is closely related to Centaurea diffusa.
