Abstract
The sorption of cobalt ion on calcium-montmorillonite was studied by the radioisotopic tracer method at different pH values. In dilute solutions the reaction has to be treated as a ternary exchange of cobalt, calcium, and hydrogen ions because of the high affinity of hydrogen ion to montmorillonite. Equilibrium constant for calcium-hydrogen exchange was determined.
