Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of propofol TCI (target controlled infusion) with combination of propofol with sufentanyl in cryosurgery on liver cancer. Methods Forty patients, ASA Ⅰ - Ⅱ , scheduled for cryosurgery of liver cancer were randomly divided into two groups: group A (n=20) and group B (n=20). The target plasma concentration of propofol in both groups were adjusted constantly so that the BIS (bispectral index)levels in both group were maintained at the same level. Time of consciousness loss and movement conditions were observed. Blood pressure(BP), heart rate (HR), SpO2, Temperature(T) and BIS and propofol target plasma concertration were recorded before induction (To), immediately after induction (T1), intraoperative 30 (T2),50 (T3),70 min (T4) and at the end of surgery (T5). After surgery the amounts of propofol were calculated and consciousness recovery time were recorded. Results The dosage of propofol in group B was lower than that in group A[ (380±42) mg vs(550±54)mg, (P<0.05) ]. There was no significant difference between group A and group B for conseiousness recovery time, while in group B the consciousness loss time was shorter than that in group A [(20±3 ) s vs (42±5) s, (P<0.05)]. In group B, SBP and MBP were lower than that in group A at T2,T3 and T4 (P<0.05). In group B, HR was slower than that in group A at T2、T3 and T4 (P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with propofol TCI, the combination of propofol with sufentanyl in cryosurgery on liver cancer could reduce the dosage and side effects of propofol while strengthen the sedative effects. Key words: Propofol; Sufentanyl; Bispectral index; Cryosurvery of liver cancer; Target controlled infusion
