Abstract
In this paper, an (AlN + AlB2)/Al composite was produced via liquid–solid reaction. Except for in–situ formed AlN and AlB2 phases, a nanolayer with the thickness of roughly 10 nm was found coating the ex–situ AlN. The nanolayer has the same crystal structure with ex–situ AlN, which is supposed beneficial for the combination between ex–situ AlN and Al matrix. The composite exhibits attractive ultimate tensile strength at 25 °C and 350 °C, which is 416 MPa and 242 MPa, respectively.
