Abstract

1. The formation of a coarse-grained rim in the process of heating of the parts pressed from aluminum alloys to quench temperatures is due to the peculiarities of the structural and phase transformations occurring in the peripheral zone of the parts in the course of pressing. 2. After pressing, the rods made of Avial alloy manifest a texture with and orientation in the core, and orientations , , and (of which is the recrystallization tenture) — in the peripheral zone. 3. The coarse-grained rim forms in the process of heating to quench temperatures in consequence of the uneven conditions of growth of the recrystallization nuclei. This is associated with the irregular decomposition of the solid solution and the nonuniform distribution of the dispersed phases. As a result of this, heating induces the formation of a sharply consertal structure, which on a complete dissolution of the excess phases shows a tendency to coarsen in consequence of secondary recrystallization.
