Abstract
We analyze the physical meaning of the classical electromagnetic theory underlying the massless two-dimensional spinor quantum electrodynamics (Schwinger model) and show that the vector and axial vector currents are dually equivalent. The resulting dual classical electromagnetic theory is shown to be consistent.
