Abstract

In the scope of an investigation of lithium intercalation in La 1 3 NbO 3 and LiTi 2(PO 4) 3 a new technique-the chemical short circuit method- has been developed to get easily intercalated materials with intermediate compositions. Direct reaction at RT of 〈H〉 with A x L 〈H〉 leads to A x 〈H〉 with 0 < x < x L. This system can be considered as a rocking chair battery in short circuit as there is no separator between both species. In such a way materials with selected composition and exhibiting a very good homogeneity can be easily obtained. This technique is complementary to the butyllithium intercalation often used for obtaining fully intercalated phases.
