Abstract

Partial Discharge localization in power transformers is an important task for test engineers. Although some theoretical methods have been proposed, there are no devices that directly guide them to a reasonable result. This paper deals with such a device and investigates the characteristics and requirements of its hardware and software modules in detail. The hardware module must be a VHF PD measuring system that enables us with single PD wave forms. The software module is based on winding modeling using transformer design data. At last the proposed hardware and software are verified experimentally.
