Abstract

The reasons for the stress decrease in the compression diagrams of epoxy polymers are examined. The possibility of conformational transitions occurring during deformation, and the transition type, will determine the stress reduction. The results for the deformation rate and the temperature as functions of the stress decrease are given and also the forced elasticity limit. The found correlations are analysed and also the existence of such a correlation between the slope of the compression diagram and the thermo-mechanical curves.
