Abstract
Aromatic sulphones and some aromatic halides are reduced electrochemically directly and indirectly in benzonitrile in the presence of tert-butylphenylnitrone as a spin trap. In most cases, three line spectra are obtained in ESR attesting to the presence and the addition of free radicals, the nature of which is discussed.
