Abstract

The negation is investigated in communicative situation of conflict in this article, where negation relates to those speech acts and their realization entails to the emergence of conflictive situation or hostility in English and Ukrainian official-business discourse. Nowadays this investigation is actual. Its peculiarity is in tight regulation and standardization of speech ways in business communication. The demands of tolerance and means of mitigation refusal are considered. Conflict motivation, being integrated into a communicative situation that potentially modifies the speaker’s attitudes, and obtaining a certain – relevant to the given communication situation – intention, is aimed at the attitudes of the communicative partner and the recipient’s reactions arising from them. Conflict setting is realized by expressing disagreement of one of the participants with a certain aspect of the episode and his withdrawal from communication or an attempt to change the episode structure. Verbal disagreement is embodied in negative speech actions, which include refusal, which purposefully expresses the negative-negative reaction of the speaker. An important component of business communication is the problem of conflict. Successful resolution of any conflict situation requires knowledge of the nature, nature, ways to overcome crisis situations, be able to apply in practice effective behaviors, appropriate technologies of action. Conflict, as a node of problems that need to be resolved urgently, is, in fact, the basis on which to resolve conflict situations, there is a development and improvement of relations. Thus, the conflict manifests itself in the form of sharp contradictions between communicators, which is characterized by a direct, often aggressive refutation of the truth of the content of the proposals of the opposite party.
