Abstract

The effect on the two-nucleon capture process of nuclear and K − meson orbit distortion brought about by the residual Coulomb interaction is studied. It is suggested that a collective type of capture process by the distorted nucleus could exist which gives reasonable agreement with emulsion experiments without the assumption of surface α-particle clusters.
