view Abstract Citations (10) References (7) Co-Reads Similar Papers Volume Content Graphics Metrics Export Citation NASA/ADS The Bright Stars Associated with Galactic X-Ray Sources Sofia, Sabatino Abstract A comparison of 44 galactic compact X-ray sources in the third Uhuru X-ray catalog having error boxes <0.02 degi with the stars listed in the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory catalog shows eight positional coincidences where only two are expected by chance. Since already three of those stars have been positively identified with the corresponding X-ray sources, and a fourth identification has been proposed, a relationship between bright stars and galactic sources is beyond doubt. This Letter identifies the other bright stars which are good candidates to be X-ray counterparts.
