Abstract
The performance of the BK24 ignitron as a switch in high current pulsed applications is studied, the closed circuit impedance of the valve for fast (loss than 100 μsec) and slow (msec), pulses being investigated. The valve resistance is found to fall from an initial valve of 23 m Ω to a minimum of a few milliohms some hundred microseconds after ignition. The rating of the valve for fast pulse operation is discussed.
