AbstractThe bivariate lognormal distribution is proposed as a model for the joint distribution of storm peak (maximum rainfall intensity) and storm amount. Using the marginal distributions, the joint distribution, the conditional distributions, and the associated return periods are derived. The model is found appropriate for representing multiple episodic storm events at the Motoyama meteorological observation station in Japan. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
