Abstract
The concept of a biorthogonal eigenfunction system (BES) of linear stability equations has been utilized for receptivity problems in boundary layers, wall jets, pipe ow, and detonations. Other applications of the BSE include the analysis of experimental and computational studies of perturbations. In the present survey, applications of the BSE to receptivity problems and to the analysis of experimental and computational data illustrate the main features of the method.
