Abstract
The region of Bacillus stearothermophilus strain NCA 1503 16‐S ribosomal RNA protected from ribonuclease digestion by the 30‐S ribosomal subunit protein S8 from Bacillus stearothermophilus has been established. The nucleotide sequence is compared to the analogous region in Escherichia coli and a possible base‐pairing scheme proposed that is consistent with the data of ribonuclease susceptibility.
