Abstract

Objective To analyze literature distribution concerning seawater immersion, seawater drowning so as to reveal its research statues in China. Methods The Chinese Biomedical (CBM) Literature Database was used to retrieve related published papers, and Foxpro-programming was applied to analyze and record published time, subjects, authors, journals, research institutions, themes, literature types-and geographical distributions. Results A total of 436 related articles on seawater immersion and seawater drowning were retrieved in the CBM database, of which 52.06% were funded by government institutions and the published peak was in 2004. No core authors were found in this field. About 51.15% of the articles were contributed by over 5 co-authors. The 10 top key words were: pulmonary edema, animal models, trauma, lung, abdominal injuries, blood gas analysis, burns, hemorrhagic shock, hemodynamics, and hypothermia. Researchers and research institutions were mainly distributed in Beijing, Guangdong and Chongqing. Conclusions Since 1994, extensive research has been carried out on seawater immersion and seawater drowning in China and great progress has been made in this respect.
