Abstract
Amma Birth Companions is a Glasgow-based charity that supports birthing people who are experiencing significant adversity on their journey to parenthood. Our mission is to improve birth, pregnancy and postnatal experiences and outcomes for vulnerable individuals. Our trained team of nurturing and compassionate birth and postnatal companions offers volunteer support to people facing pregnancy, birth and early parenthood alone. This article highlights the struggles and difficulties faced by vulnerable parents and the benefits of birth companions.
