Abstract
The impressive rise in popularity of the theme "History and Narrative" began with Arthur C. Danto's Analytical Philosophy of History. Since Hayden White's Metahistory, the discussion has been concentrated--often with a strong polemical thrust--on the question of the basic distinction between historiography and fiction.
