Abstract
There were summarized the results of the domestic lithology development in 20 century. There were generalised the main achievements and defined leading positions of the domestic lithology in the development of the teachings on types of lithogenesis, weathering crust, seagoing sedimetogenesis; katagenesis and hydrochemical katagenesis processes, fundamental bases of the teaching on evolution of sedimentation and rock formation in geological history, teachings on minerals genesis, in the study of sedimentary process cycle and other directions. There was given the estimation to modern state and trend of the development of lithology in foreign countries. The perspective directions of the development of lithology in Russia are determined. The importance of Russia participation in the international projects is motivated
